Overcomer's Prayer

Joshua is considered to be one of the greatest

generals of all time.  The directions God gave

him and the lessons he learned in conquest are the

basis for the following prayer strategy to help

activate your prayer initiative.

I.  Be Strong And Courageous(Joshua 1:6a)

Rejoice that your strength to pray, pull down strongholds and see victory is based upon the victory of Jesus Christ at Calvary and His

    promise to you.

“I will not fail you or forsake you.”  Joshua 1:5b

“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Matt. 28:20b

“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.”  Romans 8:37

II.  Declare Your Blood Covenant

which Jesus cut with God at the Cross for you.

“So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel.”  Joshua 5:3a

“In Him you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body, the flesh

by the circumcision of Christ.  Col. 2:11

“So much the more also Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.”  Heb. 7:22

III.  Proclaim Your Loyalty to God’s Word

which is God’s weapon for you to use as you walk in the Holy Spirit.

“This book of the Law shall not depart from you mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night.”  Josh. 1:8a

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”  Matt. 4:4

IV.  Confess personal sins, sins of the church and sins of the nation

       and repent before God

“If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,

then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  II Chron. 7:14

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

           I John 1:9

V.  Worship the Lord, magnify His Name, and shout unto Him with the Voice of Triumph.

“And it came about at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people,

Shout!  For the Lord has given you the city.”  Joshua 6:16

          “But an hour is coming and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth;

for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.”  John 4:23

VI.  Pray with the authority the Lord has given you through the covenant blood of Jesus to bind all

spiritual forces operating in this country and Israel intent on destroying us.

          * Bind the strong man of Islamic terrorists and the fanatical Islamic extremism that fosters it.

          * Pray for all the powers to be under subjection to Jesus Christ. (Eph. 1:20-22)

          * Pray for every knee to bow to Jesus.  (Phil. 2:9-11)

VII.  Pray for a Great Awakening leading to the Salvation of the lost.

          * Pray that all may come to know the love of the Father.  (John 17:24-25)

          * Pray that none will perish but all will come to repentance.  (II Pet. 3:9)

VIII.  Pray for our Political Leaders to be Enlightened to the Truth and to

          become Committed Disciples of Christ.

          * Pray for those in authority  (I Tim. 2:1-4)

          * Pray that the secular humanists in government will have their eyes opened to see the truth about evil.

IX.   Declare Victory!!

*Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the Lord our God.  They have bowed

down and fallen: but we have risen and stand upright.  (Psalm 20:7-8)
